Hawaiian Pidgin

What is Hawaiian Pidgin? It is a language that evolved from Chinese, Japanese, and Portuguese immigrants in the mid-1800s. In order to talk together and with English-speaking plantation owners, a common language developed. Later Okinawans, Puerto Ricans, Koreans, and Filipinos immigrated and added bits of their own languages into the mix.
